Excuse Me, Can I Go To Marie France Puh-Lease??

The week has been absolutely monotonous.. the usual 5 day week at work, bantering and negotiating of contracts with Clients that used to be the highlight of my job to me, no longer seems mind stimulating as it used to. It's all so predictable, we propose something, they say its expensive lah, mind-boggling lah etc, etc.. then we play tarik tali, one day they pull to their side and we pull back..until its sorted as expected. It's a love-hate relationship..they need us, we need them. No matter what! So, finally wrapped up next years's contract with a Client. Now have to cross fingers and pray (HARD) that we make money out of it; which seems so hard to do these days. Oh well..can't control everything can I?

Anyways, for lack of better things to write, lemme update the rest of the G.Is on how my diet has been this week. Oh yes, I have been serious about it..especially after looking at the void in Atenah's jeans in one of her postings recently. I thought.."I gotta go get me some of that!"..referring to her lovely slim thighs! How lah?? Plus..I have been getting hints from my dearest and nearest N, that something has to be done about my legs, bums and tums...or are those pinches that he's been giving me in those areas a sign of approval, and that they're hey-OK? Errr.. don't think so!

So, after some help from the BMI link in Nazrah's blog, I found out that I need to lose some 3-4 kilos. Make it 5 kilos for safe measure; and I want some tone in my legs and upper arms, ya know what I mean?

A trip to Carrefoure on Monday sorted out my diet for the week. It was grilled fish, chicken and vegetables for me this week accompanied by air asam and Lingams' Chilli Sauce or kicap with cili padi and lime. Strictly no rice for dinner. For lunch, rice only twice this week, yong tau foo and a steamboat lunch on Saturday (that's ok isn't it?). Fruits as snack, maybe some keropok in between, and I made sure that I only go to bed at least three hours after my last meal. Man! This is hard!

Exercise?? This is the hard one! Only managed to come about exercising this morning. Jogged (and huffed and puffed) two rounds around the KLCC park at 8.00 a.m while the kids played away on the swings and slides! Lacking on that one, I know. Have resolved to pay a visit to the office gym at least three times this week! Insya-Allah!

The results for the week? Ooooh, I still dare not look! My weighing scale is still stored somewhere, hidden from my last frustration from weighing myself months ago!! I will have to muster up some courage and weigh myself next Sunday. We'll see, and I shall update. Anyhow, for this week, not much progress..it's ONLY been one week right?? Or am I supposed to expect a miracle or some sort of divine intervention?? I guess not! Tummy and bum are still wobbling away, thighs still look anak gajah-like and legs are sore like hell now. All that said, I do feel healthier. Discipline. That's what it takes..and patience. That's what I don't have!

Is a quick-fix allowed in this regime? Wanna go Marie France lah!

Sigh..where's my bonus when I need one?

ps. To the rest of my G.I Jane sisters - Go! go! GO!!! You can do it!!

hai cik anedra cayang, best jugak i tgk ur diet hehe.

memang 1st week of cutting down and watching what u eat canbe such a suicidal attempt. for me, i was kinda not in a good mood cos i cant pop that cookie or snakc anytime i want. and i try to cut down on soda (even diet) so that i could just drink water, something simpler for my body to digest.

slowly, u will make it. itu gym, u go gurl, do it while u can.

i am having a foot problem now, but i still force myself to walk, after 8 blocks, habis, my foot will get a very painful sensation, like theres a nail embedded in my right heel. so i am seeing the foot doctor on the 11th to solve this problem. but walking i shall still do.

go anedra go anedra go anedra go!!!

do u have yahoo msgr btw?

OR...ok this is real classic proof. My mom. She takes OMEGA-3 tablets. She has dropped 5 kilos since. Insyaallah it works. Just a suggestion...

Good girl!! Up and at 'em!! Good good good!! *gives Anedra many pats on the back and big grin*

Some advice .. DON'T go the Marie France way WITHOUT also incorporating a change of routine (i.e. regular exercise) into your lifestyle.

I've got close relatives and friends who went the liposuction way, crash diet way, Marie France (and what-other-nots) way, Atkins way, Zone diet way, etc etc .. only to have the weight loss being shortlived because exercise was only done as a temporary thing. After that, balloon balik lah!! Kalau tak balloon pun, they look haggard and gaunt even though kurus, because they're basically starving themselves in order to stay thin. Silly.

Of course, these methods make you lose not just weight but inches (which is obviously what matters more to us lah, right!) in the shortest span of time, but what basically happens is that the body is given one rude shock, .. and then once it's gotten hold of what happens, it (the body) takes control of "fat" land again!!

Idea is to slowly but surely "brainwash" the body .. you won't lose weight so fast, heck, you might not lose weight at all, especially if as you say, you're just 3-4kgs off your BMI. But what's better is, you'll slowly burn off the fat with regular exercise (at least 3-4 times a week, not less than 30 minutes each time, excluding warm-up and warm-down time ah, don't cheat!) and then everything will slowly but SURELY firm up, bit by bit!!

Best part is, exercise gives you SO much positive energy, strength and drive (for everything *ehem*) - it's never a bad reason!!

Pandai aje Blabs comment ye .. I myself have been out of the game for god-knows-how-long dah .. but but but I've got an excuse!! A bad back!! Hehehe!! No lah, in all truthfulness, I truly miss my gym workouts. Truly. :(

Oh! A thought. Rather than Marie France, I'd recommend something which incorporates both exercise, unwinding, relaxation, and treatments (if you want lah) - go to Phillip Wain. People tend to think that it's oh-so-mahal, but actually it's not. Especially if all you take is the exercise prog and not the treatment, slimming or massage packages.

I used to go to the one at Menara Weld when I worked at AmBank building over at Raja Chulan, but now in PJ too far dah. You pay the dues once a year (which is why it sounds so banyak) but when I went, it actually worked out to about RM140-00 a month, which was comparable to most of those other gyms in town pun. When I left, I heard that they brought it down even more because there was so much competition from those other gyms!

Best gym to go coz it's women only, and is also one of the cosiest and nicest gyms in town .. no sweaty-sweaty, dirty people about.

But truly, Phillip Wain is unmatched in terms of service and comfort. Really!! Would strongly suggest that you give it a shot if you haven't already.

1. Alamak! the 30 minutes exclude warm up and warm down aah?? aiyoo.
2. Thanks for recommending Philip Wain. We'll see how this diet works and then someday assess the need to go there. My only worry is..spend so much and then if terpregnant..habis my plans! Kurus pun nak..to get pregnant also in plan. How??
3. Waaah..you sound like a pro. Thanks for all the advise. You're probably one of those that can binge and never get fat! Sigh..how I wish.
4. I agree, exercise is good..for everything! I feel better (although legs are sore) from yesterday's run.
AND
5. It's the lawyer in you..Must make it clear maaah..therefore, must say it in many sentences and paras. It's okaylah! It's allowed at ANedra's!
You take care then!

anedra, the way our family eats, there's no way you can diet. We eat and eat everytime we meet, and we do meet up a lot! I know I am not there, but I can just imagine. Sometimes, one of you would call just to tell me what you are all eating!! and what I am missing!

aske': kalau puasa and binge when buka puasa also cannot right?? memang dok puasa jugak, but bila berbuka tu..macam lupa dunia you!

kakteh: That is sooo true..what with the sambal udang, ikan terubuk bakar, air assam, kari ikan, kari ayam tata, sup tulang, mee rebus, ayam golek, ketam, lala goreng, kerabu tauggeh with kerang, sayur keladi..meleleh ayarq liorq dok pikir!! how can diet??

Sementara ni, kena avoid rumah maksu and pakaji and mama for a while if I want to pursue this diet of mine!

Anedra! Caaan, who said cannot exercise and go to gym if pregnant? Kat PWain, I came across quite a few women who were preggers AND they worked out!! Needless to say, "glowing faces" is a gross understatement. The place creates special programs for you if you're pregnant, and help you through the entire 3 trimesters! That's why the place is nice .. it caters for a woman's every need, .. even when pregnant! :)

Aske': yes..yes..will try HARD!

Massy: Tukar plan. Phillip Wain, kata Blabs better! Jom!!?

Blabs: It's not going to the gym when you're pregnant that I'm worried about..it's getting all fat and puffed up when you're pregnant.that's the hard part you know, especially just after (IF!IF!) you've slimmed down! (kononnya boleh lah slim down ni ya??) All the hard work, all gone. But looking at it at a different angle, better to lose weight now, so that when pregnant and after prenancy, not too much or too hard to lose! But this PW sure does sound interesting..hmmm..temptations, temptations!

Atenah: Ya ke? The last time I saw that photo of you without the face at yr blog, it looked like a size M going down to an S. You're already slim!! As for me, the 5kgs tu as a minimum to meet the BMI. AND thats almost on the borderline of the highside of my ideal BMI range! slow-slow dulu! Tapi semalam nampak pisang goreng kat office, meleleh kejap. :(

Hmm try to get vcds! Then again it's best to sign up for maybe a 1 session work out for intro...esp for matwork.

another thing...take light dinner!

ok tell me how to ward off stretch marks? ergh that is soo no-no

-nour-

10:03 PM
Blogger anedra said...

mycottonbed: Yup, you're right, light meals at night is a must (for me)..and for the stretch marks..kapur plus limau and spread over affected areas! If no stretch marks yet..then apply baby oil or cocoa butter over POTENTIAL areas. You surely don't have any do you?? ;P

11:01 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

hahah if i don't have i wouldn't ask, honey! hehe mine is a case of drastic change in diet...so stretch marks appeared...hmm seriously that limau and kapo' work ka?

3:45 AM
Blogger anedra said...

mycottonbed: yes it does errr..if the stretchmarks have not been there for too long! But applying it is a bit messylah, you'll probably need to cover the areas where you apply it with something, if not you'll have kapur-droppings everywhere once it dries out!

narfy dear: I can only TRY!!! It's killing me already..sigh. Quick fix- that what desperado me needs!

6:17 PM
Blogger anedra said...

chocolicious: almost everyone around me is in no need of a diet..thus, I'm all alone honey! But its okay, I CAN DO IT!! (ehehe! ya ke ni??)

Anedra,
progress report?? Blabarella sure sounds like she knows what she's talking about. Judging from the beautiful eyes alone, i am totally convinced. You need someone as positive as her to help along with the ups (oh no) and downs of losing weight.

Everyblog i go, there are talks about losing weight. And here i am, asek dok membina badan. (shame on my 53kg at 4'10'' self)

Sigh... depress depress... now must roll myself over to go selongkar dapur.

psst.. the sheer act of trying to get pregnant is one way of losing weight too! Do the helicopter girl
